Amazon movie downloads - known as Video on Demand - is a storefront for Amazon.com's video download service. This service encompases a truly large variety of movies in every genre available. Also, Video on Demand does not limit itself to movie downloads. They also list TV shows both current and vintage. All titles are available for download by either renting or buying the movie.
The video is moved into your Video Library which is a part of your Amazon account. You can then watch the video streamed over the internet or you have the option to download it to your PC or portable movie player. You can download the movie or TV show twice for each device.
You have access to your movies and shows anyplace you can access your Amazon account. Watch the movie either on your PC or on your TV via a TiVo, x-box 360 or direct connection from your PC.

My experience Amazon Video on Demand was very good. The site functions well, and the action steps that need to be taken are vary clearly defined and easy to follow. I was logged in to my profile so purchase was just 1-click. I then had three options watch now, watch later or download. I opted to watch now to see how well the streaming feature worked. I have a cable modem with a lower end connection speed. The video streamed well untill my kids turned on their x-box 360 which took its share of bandwidth so that was the end of my streaming movie. Still I watched over an hour in full screen mode with standard definition (480p) and enjoyed every minute of it.
I then decided to download the movie I had selected, "Battlestar Galactica: The Mini Series". I was required to download the Amazon Unbox Video Player and once it was installed I began to download the movie. As I said, my bandwidth was restricted so it took a while to download, but this was easily handled by the Amazon Unbox player.
I have a small network set up at home and run Windows Vista on my computer so with my sons expert x-box assistance had the movie playing on my TV in no time. There is also a full set of instructions for this and other connection options linked from Amazon's Video on Demand page.
I have to say that this is a first rate service as you would expect from one of the internets leading retailers
